As we move into 2026, I am reflecting on the last 13 years since qualifying. I started out in 2012 as a novice sports massage therapist. I then trained in myofascial therapy, which has been a game changer. Myofascial skills have brought subtlety and a more holistic approach to my treatments. Of course, I still use sports massage techniques – they are an invaluable foundation.
This year, my focus is still practical soft tissue work tailored to you the client. The aim is to help you move more freely and get back to doing what you love, whether that’s sport, work, or everyday life.
It is coming up to marathon season, so a lot of the runners are booking in for support with their training and running niggles or injuries. This is just one part of the work I do. I also regularly treat people with work-related tension, long standing aches & pains, chronic illnesses and people who need rehab following surgery.
However much experience I think I have, what I love about my job is that every treatment with every client is different and there is always something new to learn. No two runners, dancers, desk workers, or people with back pain, a hip replacement or fibromyalgia are ever the same. Everyone comes with their own set of needs and personalities, and everyone responds slightly differently to different treatments. This is why treatments are always tailor made and never routine.
I look forward to what 2026 has in store and I hope to be of help.
